Accessibility Statement
Version 1.0 | Effective Date: February 17, 2026
1. Our Commitment
SceneSmith is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards to ensure we provide equal access to all users.
We believe that the internet should be available and accessible to anyone, and are committed to providing a platform that is accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of ability or technology.
2. Conformance Standard
SceneSmith aims to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. These guidelines are published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) and define requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities.
WCAG 2.1 Level AA is the standard referenced by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) for web accessibility, as well as Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, the European Accessibility Act (EAA), and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).
3. Measures Taken
SceneSmith takes the following measures to ensure accessibility:
3.1 Perceivable
- Text Alternatives: We provide text alternatives for non-text content, including alt text for images and AI-generated thumbnails
- Captions: AI-generated video content includes dialogue transcripts that can be used as closed captions. We are expanding automatic caption generation across all content
- Color Contrast: Our design system maintains minimum contrast ratios of 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text in both light and dark modes
- Resizable Text: Text can be resized up to 200% without loss of content or functionality
- Non-Color Indicators: We do not rely solely on color to convey information — icons, text labels, and patterns supplement color cues
3.2 Operable
- Keyboard Navigation: All functionality is available via keyboard. Skip navigation links are provided to bypass repetitive content
- No Time Limits: We do not impose strict time limits on user interactions that cannot be extended
- Reduced Motion: Users who prefer reduced motion (via the
prefers-reduced-motionmedia query) will see all animations and transitions disabled automatically - Focus Management: Visible focus indicators are provided on all interactive elements using our electric cyan focus ring
- No Seizure-Inducing Content: We do not produce content that flashes more than three times per second
3.3 Understandable
- Language: The primary language of each page is identified in the HTML
langattribute - Consistent Navigation: Navigation mechanisms are consistent across the platform
- Error Identification: Form errors are clearly identified and described in text
- Labels and Instructions: Input fields include descriptive labels and, where needed, instructions
3.4 Robust
- Semantic HTML: We use semantic HTML5 elements (header, nav, main, footer, article, section) to provide structure to assistive technologies
- ARIA Attributes: Where native HTML semantics are insufficient, we use WAI-ARIA attributes to enhance accessibility
- Compatibility: Our platform is designed to be compatible with current versions of major screen readers including JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver (macOS/iOS), and TalkBack (Android)
4. AI-Generated Content Accessibility
As an AI video generation platform, we face unique accessibility challenges. We are actively addressing these:
4.1 Video Content
- Closed Captions: Dialogue scripts used to generate video scenes are available as caption tracks
- Audio Descriptions: Scene descriptions and visual prompts used in generation can be made available as supplementary audio descriptions
- Transcript Availability: Full scripts and dialogue for generated content are accessible through the project interface
4.2 Image Content
- Auto-Generated Alt Text: AI-generated images include alt text derived from the prompts used to create them
- Decorative Image Handling: Purely decorative images are marked with empty alt attributes to be skipped by screen readers
4.3 Audio Content
- Voice-Generated Dialogue: All AI-generated dialogue has corresponding text scripts available
- Audio Controls: Users have full control over audio playback, including play, pause, volume, and mute
5. Known Limitations
While we strive for full WCAG 2.1 AA compliance, we acknowledge the following current limitations:
- Complex Interactive Editors: Our video timeline editor and shot inspector are complex interactive components that may have limited screen reader support. We are actively working to improve this
- Third-Party Content: Some embedded content from third-party services may not fully meet accessibility standards
- Real-Time Previews: Live generation previews may not be fully accessible to screen reader users, but completed content includes all accessibility features
- Color Picker Components: Advanced color selection tools may require keyboard-accessible alternatives
We are committed to addressing these limitations and continue to improve the accessibility of these features.
6. Assistive Technology Compatibility
SceneSmith is designed to be compatible with:
| Assistive Technology | Platform | Support Level |
|---|---|---|
| VoiceOver | macOS / iOS | Full |
| NVDA | Windows | Full |
| JAWS | Windows | Full |
| TalkBack | Android | Partial |
| Keyboard Navigation | All | Full |
| Voice Control / Dragon | Windows / macOS | Partial |
